Gather up, gang, and prepare to be dazzled by this mystical tale of fables, family and friendship - out in cinemas on 12th August!
Have you ever wondered whether dragons might be real? Live the legend in this action-packed adventure movie, Pete’s Dragon!
For years, old wood-carver Mr. Meacham has fascinated local children with stories of a huge, fierce dragon living deep in the woods near their town. To his grown-up daughter Grace, who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales. Until she meets Pete, a mysterious ten-year-old boy with no family and no home…
Pete claims to live in the woods with a giant, green, furry dragon named Elliott – and from Pete’s descriptions, Elliott seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories.
Join Pete and Elliott in this incredible story of best friends and find out if Grace can discover where Pete came from, where he belongs and the truth about his dragon.
Could this legendary creature be real, after all? You’ll have to watch the film to find out!
Dragons have appeared in myths and legends around the world for centuries. But what do we know about them?
1) Dragons are usually depicted as reptile-like beings with sharp claws and long tails. They may be big or small, good or evil. Some are said to breathe fire, fly with huge wings and have magical powers, too.
2) In Chinese mythology, dragons were considered powerful creatures that should be respected. Some guarded the homes of the gods or treasure, while others conjured up the wind and rain.
3) Fire-breathing dragons don't exist in real life, of course! But some reptiles do have the word 'dragon' in their name – such as Komodo dragons, bearded dragons and a gliding lizard called the flying dragon. Can you think of any other real creatures with 'dragon' in their name?
