Ever wondered what TV presenters Dick & Dom might have got up to in 50AD? Well, you're about to find out!
We chatted to the playful duo about their roles in the brand new movie, ASTERIX: THE MANSIONS OF THE GODS - swooping into cinemas on 19th August.
And the best part? They're both HUGE Asterix fans, like us!
NG KiDS: Asterix: The Mansion of the Gods looks great! Can you talk us through the movie?
Dick & Dom: It's the ninth Asterix film, and Caesar plans to take over the village by building a mansions and fancy living quarters in the forest close to where the Gauls live. Asterix and Obelix plan to save the day from Roman occupation with the help of their magic super-powered potion supplied by the village druid, Getafix.
Tell us a bit more about your characters?
We play Fulliautomatix and Unhygienix - they're a couple of mongers... An ironmonger and a fishmonger!
Were they fun to play?
It was great to be voicing characters for a movie that was such a big part of our childhood.
How do you decide what they’ll sound like?
We experimented with loads of voices with a voice director until they clicked!
Tell us a cool fact about the Romans!
We've just visited the Pont du Gard in France for our CBBC science show, Absolute Genius. It was built 2,000 years ago and was used as an aqueduct (a structure that carries water over a gap). Also, Romans used to burp after a meal to show they liked it!
If you could go back to 50AD, what would be the first thing you did?
Burp after a meal and invent trousers!
What's your favourite moment from the film?
The bit where our characters have a fish fight!
What was your most memorable moment working on the film?
It was in fact the weirdest part - not being in the same room as each other when recording the voices!
Did you watch/read Asterix as kids?
Yes, they remind us of holidays in France. Every time you came away with a new Asterix comic!
What challenges did you come across making the film?
The security at Pinewood Studios was really tight as they were filming the new Star Wars film at the time - very exciting!
