Animal snaps!

National Geographic photographer Frans Lanting's gives his top tips for photographing animals! Once you've read them why not snap some creature pictures and enter the National Geographic Kids International Photo Contest 2008.

1 Your garden is a great place to practise photographing animals, and so is the zoo.
2 Watching how your pets behave will help you learn about the habits of wild animals.
3 Think about what you're looking at and why you're interested in it. The camera won't decide for you – it's just a tool!
4
Spend time with the animal before you take any pictures of it.
5
Think about how you frame  the animal in the picture – the most interesting pictures are usually off centre.
