Smiley Miley

Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus reveals what it’s like to hit the road on tour – and have the whole experience filmed in 3-D

NG Kids: What’s your new movie about, Miley?

Miley Cyrus: It’s basically my concert tour of the United States on the big screen – all in 3-D. But you also get to see me backstage rehearsing and hanging out with my family.

NGK: What is it like to see yourself pop out of the movie screen in 3-D?

MC: It’s crazy! It was weird – especially when my hand comes out of the screen. I couldn’t believe it could do that. It was wild.

NGK: Did the film cameras follow you around for weeks?

MC: The cameras followed us for two weeks when we rehearsed everything. They didn’t really use a lot of that stuff on the film, but I think they will on the DVD. Then they filmed the entire fifth show. I wished we could’ve done it later on because the show got even better afterwards.

NGK: Did you get your own tour bus while you travelled around the USA?

MC: Yes – and I had posters and fashion magazines plastered all over it. My little brother didn’t like it so much. He kept saying: "I feel like I’m walking into a clothes shop because there are racks and racks of outfits everywhere." I love fashion, so my bus and my room were filled with clothes.

NGK: Did you have a DVD player on there to keep you entertained?

MC: I had a big entertainment system, which was awesome. I have literally every video game ever invented. I have stacks of different, fun video games like Guitar Hero, which we were always playing.

NGK: What’s the best thing about touring?

MC: The travelling has been really cool – and I’m looking forward to doing even more soon because that’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I would love to tour the world.

NGK: What’s the worst part of touring?

MC: I guess the travelling could be the best and the worst part because I have four brothers and sisters and they can’t always come with me. Sometimes I’ll be gone for months at a time and I miss them when I’m away. Luckily with this tour they all got to come along with me, though.

NGK: Who else came on tour?

MC: My five dogs came on the tour bus, which was very interesting. It was quite ridiculous on the bus with all these dogs and children – it was one big play pen. You’ve got an eight-year-old and a 13-year-old and a big German shepherd. It was the worst. I would lock myself in my bunk and think: "I cannot believe I’m doing this right now." I couldn’t wait for it to be just me and my mum again.

NGK: Did your mum enjoy being part of the movie?

MC: No, she didn’t. She enjoyed watching the movie, but as soon her face came up on screen she said: "Oh my gosh. I can’t believe I’m on that screen. I had no make-up on. I didn’t know they were filming me." Her accent is so funny. She was freaking out in the cinema and nearly walked out. It was cute.
