Disney's NEXT X is back
Great news, sports fans! Disney’s Next X is back for a second series! The show follows nine contestants as they compete against each other to become Disney XD’s Next X superstar – and 13-year-old skier Harris Booth from Edinburgh will be flying the flag for the British Isles!
NG Kids caught up with Harris to find out all about the show...
NG Kids Hi Harris! How did you get interested in skiing?
Harris Booth It felt quite natural to take up skiing as my mum and dad are really into the sport. Up until three years ago, I only ever really skied on family holidays. But after a ski trip to Avoriaz in France, when I was 11, I took up the sport properly. I was watching the other kids do tricks in a snow park and it inspired me to have a go!
NGK What qualities does it take to become a world class skier?
Harris You need to be talented and dedicate time to practise. It’s also helpful to have a good slope to train on and a positive attitude – you have to be happy when you ski otherwise you won’t perform to your best ability
NGK What advice would you give to other kids wanting to succeed in the winter sports arena?
Harris Practise lots, push yourself, try to learn new tricks and don’t think too hard and scare yourself. Just go for it! That’s what I’ve done and it’s paid off as I’m 5th in the British Snow Tour Rankings and I’m the top unsponsored skier in the rankings!
NGK How did you feel when you found out you had been selected for Next X?
Harris I didn’t think I’d get chosen so I was super excited. My coach put me up for it and when I heard I’d been selected I was really shocked!
NGK What was it like meeting the professionals on the show?
Harris It was fantastic. Meeting Bene Mayr has been really cool, I’ve seen him on lots of TV shows and on YouTube. I’d love to follow in his footsteps and be a professional freestyle skier, travelling the world and taking part in the X Games!

NGK How did you prepare for taking part in the show?
Harris I decided to learn as many new tricks as I could and train as much as I could. We had so much snow in Edinburgh, I was able to jump on urban rails all over the place but a week before the trip, I got a cold so I eased off.
NGK What will it mean to you to win and perform at the Winter X Games?
Harris It’s been a fantastic experience, just having the opportunity to be a part of Disney XD’s Next X and coming to La Plagne. It would be really good to win!
